23rd January Short Kettering CC ride

Six riders met at Sainsburys. Tom & Evelyn had a lunch meeting so a shorter ride was done. Out to Geddington, up to Great Oakley, Pipewell & back via Geddington. Nice little stretch of the old legs - turning cold again BOOOOO!

16th Jan second outing of 2011 blustery sprint!

Watched the end of Watson's terrific innings at Melbourne & dragged myself out on a blustery but mild day.
Legs but stiff & 'rusty' - need to get some miles in before the AUDAX on 19th Feb
Tough stretch out through Rothwell to Harrington. Stuck with 2 fellas from Broughton into the headwind to 'farpoint' Then turned for home & flew along at 22+mph down through Loddington & home.
great to be out on Belle again, and out on Belle without various appendages freezing to death!! Roll on the Spring & some longer rides...

2nd January 2011 Kettering CC outing

hello 2011!!
Decided to make the most of the break in the frosty weather
In the event only David & Norbeth(?) turned up but they dragged me along at a good rate to Islip, up to Brigstock then around Corby via Deene & straight down the A6003 home!
Chilly & no wind, the old (nearly 52!) legs got a good workout

Persuaded Luke to get out in the milder, and mist free, conditions
Did the Harrington run, celebrating 1500 miles as we entered Loddington!
Good, but not quite up to the 5000+ miles TTT's maganged this year (LEJOG again/London to Geneva/ and some killing AUDAX's up up to 180m per day!! respect mate!)

total 331 hours of pedalling Overall average 14.5mph ad a huge 211,391ft climbing!!

30th December ...better got those last miles knocked off....

....So on a cool misty morning I set off to go around Kettering following the route 'pioneered' by me & Michiel back in October.
Took a slight wrong turning & ended up in Isham but as my legs were tired I was grateful about the slightly shorter disrance!
Will try to get Luke out on a 'Pylon' run tomorrow to get the last 12 miles & 1500 for the year

12th December "back on the road again!" KetteringCC Club Run

After a frosty frustrating four weeks, a gap in the Arctic weather opened up and had to be taken advantage of.
So I pedalled over to Sainburys for 0930 and seven of us headed North under Tom's leadership. With likely frost on smaller roads we stuck to the main roads as we swept around through Market Harborough & close to Brixworth & home in sunny chilly pretty windless conditions.
I was presently suprised how the old legs kept going and finished strongly at a decent average speed.
Young Chris joined the group - he cycled LEJOG solo, and camping this year - Respect! I followed his blog at the time. (I'll hunt out link & paste here...)
Shame snow is predicted again I still have 37.26 miles to do by 31/12 for the 1500 mile 2010 total!
